At this time, I'm going to be retiring this blog account. I may still keep it "live", but I've found tumblr and would like something separate for me that I can be more committed to and that is simpler. If I come back to this blog, I will let you all know. Rob and I had a wonderful time... romantic strolls in Central Park, shopping in Soho & Century 21, great food (tried ethiopian for the first time), bizarre broadway show that kind of turned into a rave, Serendipity(finally), beautiful, Fall weather... Was definitely one of my most favorite trips with Rob. We look forward to going back again!

8 Year Anniversary

I know we're supposed to go by our marriage date now, but Rob and I just hit our 8th year anniversary. 8 years ago he held my hand walking to class and asked me to be his girlfriend. I can't believe it's been 8 years!!! Happy Anniversary baby!

Took a little weekend trip to Coronado Island last weekend. Was just what we needed. Then we went up and saw my cousin Adam for a day in LA. Rob surfed, and I held on for dear life while my cousin drove my car around like a mad man.

If I had a waterproof camera, I would have been out there taking some shots of Rob surfing. He was in surfer heaven, and did pretty well for his first time!

LA was definitely chaotic. We tried to get a lot in in one day.

Rob and I are even more convinced now that we want to live by the water. Only time will tell!

Belated Birthday Post

For Rob's 25th birthday (back in June) we went to The Hyatt in Scottsdale for the weekend. We had a WONDERFUL time!!!

We had been to the Hyatt before for the live band with his Dad, but once a low rate popped up, we booked a night!

Most of the weekend we spent by the pool with family and friends. Saturday night we went to Zipp's, played Golden Tee, stopped by AJ's after for some champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, and headed back to our cozy room! I'd say it was a total man's weekend with all the food we ate, pool basketball and Golden Tee.

Then, we celebrated his actual birthday on June 21st at his Mom's. Lots of food, family and cake! I'll post some pics from that if I can.

Rob and I are the same age for a little while... always fun! Hope you had a nice birthday honey... :)

Saw a new video on CMT this past week and uncovered a darling song by Whitney Duncan, called "Skinny Dippin'". It's adorable! And I'm so mad that I've now just heard of her! Guess she won Nashville Star in 2007, the same show that brought us Miranda Lambert. I need to watch this show!!!

I absolutely LOVE her music, especially when it's acoustic. Check her out!

Mud Run

I highly recommend AGAINST 3 hours of sleep before a 10k in the cold and mud. My lips were bright blue by the end of the race and I couldn't wake up after.

Washington Trip

Fortunately, we were able to escape to WA for a weekend for our friends Troy and Kaylyn's wedding. We had a wonderful time! Was great seeing our friends and family, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous.

This past weekend, me and some of my friends (and sisters) participated in the Pat Tillman run at ASU.

We all started in different spurts, my sister starting ahead of me. Then, guess who gets air time on Good Morning America?? MY SISTER!!!!

The one time I don't run with her (other than the Mud Run), is the time she gets on national television!! I was so bummed.

Mom's Birthday on Coronado Island

Our girls trip to Cali first started with fun travel bags, made especially for us. Mine consisted of flips-flops, a tank top, nail polish, nail filer, the DVD Juno and sunglasses. All came in a darling tote inscribed ‘Once a joy always a joy’, LOL. Thanks, Mom! How thoughtful.

We got in A LOT of sun, drinks (too many), laughs, talks and shopping! Oh, and lots of yogurt land.

We also came equipped with our MSU gear to watch the game with our cousin (and MSU alum), Adam and his girl, Andrea, in San Diego. They beat UCONN but didn’t rise up in the championship on Monday night. So sad.

Happy Birthday, mom! Hope you had a fabulous weekend with us!

Newly a Vegetarian

If you haven’t read Skinny Bitch, I highly recommend you do. It changed my universe.

No longer will I eat pork or beef.

It may be a little outdated, but it reinforces that, we are what we eat. Plain and simple. And to be skinny, you first got to get healthy.

After reading, you may be motivated to give up meat, diet soda, dairy, cigarettes, sugars, and alcohol. But me, I’m taking baby steps. Thought I’d start by giving up pig and cow (they’re inhumanely murdered by the big farm factories), diet Dr. Pepper and some dairy. If anything, I’m going to pay closer attention to ingredients and eat more organically, then slowly refrain from chicken as well (they're so unsanitary).

It’s been 4 days, and I’m doing okay. It’s all mental right now. When I saw the pig slashing videos and stories (cows, too), I kept thinking about Lucy (she has a hair cut right now that makes her look like a little piggie). Went to Fresh & Easy, picked up some nuts and dried fruit, and am eating more greens, drinking more water… Taking it day by day with better food intake (and hopefully a better digestive system!)and am already feeling better about my life.

Not sure why, but lately I’ve been obsessing over saving money on everything and ANYTHING. I won’t buy something I WANT unless there is some kind of sale, discount, coupon or $ off it, excluding Ross, Nordstrom Rack and Harkins. Ross and the Rack just have great prices on designer stuff, so... hard to ignore. And Harkins, well, I’m a movie freak but recently I found out that Rob gets tickets at discount through Banner so I can now add Harkins to my coupon frenzy. Wish Target had some kind of coupon/reward program.

Saving $.75 here or a $1.50 there really adds up. I think right now if I can save SOMETHING on every purchase, I’ll save more in my savings account in the long run. And I love NY & CO. Right now, it’s all about sales, and I mean GOOD sales. No use buying anything if you can’t get money off it somehow or it at the cheapest price possible.

I cannot BELIEVE it’s already March. Our 1-year anniversary is a little over a week away! 2009 has been pretty good so far. Busy, but good.

- Reading Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum novels LIKE CRAZY. They are the most hilarious, sexy and suspenseful books I’ve ever read. And I’m talking laugh out loud funny! I highly recommend you pick them up. Joe Morelli is worth it, and Ranger, too.

- Watching HEROES. I’m hooked, as of right now. I heard it gets pretty complicated so we’ll see. Peter is the coolest. LOST is next on my DVD marathon list.

- Listening to the Confessions of a Shopaholic soundtrack. Makes you wanna dance your little tush off… and shop.

- Doing PR stuff for Gilbert Toastmasters. By the way, our blog is pretty awesome. Check it out here. Oh, and if you’re interested in Improv and improving your communication skills, come to our April 2nd meeting for a special workshop with the Light Rail Pirates.

- Not pet-sitting. No one is going on vacation, so no weekend work for CHERYL

Fireproof

Saw the most amazing movie this weekend: Fire Proof. It renewed our hearts... brought tears to my eyes. Rob and I are so blessed...to love each other as the Lord loves us, to be fireproof. At times little tiffs get us down, but through forgiveness and unconditional love, we come together with faith and selfless love.

Cheese Plate

I received an early Valentine's Day gift from Rob, a cheese plate made from one of my favorite wines, Little Black Dress!!! He's such a hunk for being so thoughtful!

Considering his last day at AmTrust was Friday, he had to act quick with his customer who specializes in stained glass and kilns.

The COKE COW recipe

I used my new crock pot (thanks, Grandma Margie!), invited my parents over for my experiment, and tried a recipe from my friend Bridgette at work. She’s brilliant! And expecting… I’m so exited for her!

After a trip to Fry’s for all the spices I didn’t have, and 5 hours of slow cooking, the result was amazing! One of the most delicious meats I’ve ever tasted!!!!!!!!!!!!! I felt so accomplished after, and my parents thought I was a chuck roast expert! Rob loved it, too!

Here is the recipe for you to try in your homes ASAP!

Coke Cow

3/4 cup coca-cola
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 1/2 pounds chuck roast
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 onions, chopped
1 teaspoon OR 1 cube beef bouillon
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
2 tablespoons butter

In a bowl, combine cola, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, garlic, bouillon, mustard, chili powder, red pepper, ketchup and butter. Place meat and onions in crock pot and pour liquid. Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours or on high for 5-6 hours.
It’s GREAT with mashed potatoes, or shredded up as a sandwich.

Slowing down

Something awful happened last weekend. Friday before my night out with my work girls, I lost Lucy. I absent mindedly left the garage doors open and she slipped out while Rob and I were visiting. After realizing she wasn’t hanging around like she normally is, Rob and I went searching for her in our neighborhood. Thinking she couldn’t have gotten farther than our coldesacke considering the group of kids at the house outside our street (Lucy loves people), our minds and eyes were racing to where she could be. Driving in my car, with my sweet friend Kelly, we screamed for her and flashed my mini-flashlight everywhere. God must have forgiven my foolishness, because after 30 minutes, I got a call from an unknown number. That’s when the tears came! A lady had Lucy at her house! Here’s how the conversation went:

“Do you have my dog!!!!???” (me, instead of saying ‘hello’)
“Yes, I do!” (lady)
“Oh, my God! Thank you so much! (sobbing) Where do you live??” (me)
“I live in a coldesack, on Rawhide Avenue.” lady)
“I LIVE in a coldasack on Rawhide Avenue!” (me)
“Really?” lady)
“Yes! I’m at 720 W. Rawhide!” (me)
“Well, I live right across the street from you then” lady)
“Oh my god!” (me)

Lucy had wandered only 20 yards to our neighbor’s house across the street, where this lady found her scratching at her door to get in to see her dog, Lily.

This little incident, (mind you, the 3rd time she’s slipped out on my watch), just goes to SHOW, that I shouldn’t have children for awhile. If I can’t keep an eye on a 3 year old, 28 lb curious dog, how can I monitor the whereabouts of a small human!? I PRAY that I’m a better mother than I am a dog owner. I’m pretty anal when it comes to Lucy (she’s the best gift I’ve ever received other than life), but when it comes to all the things I juggle in a day or weekend, it’s OBVIOUS I need to slow down. If I had more time to enjoy the day, I might have been more aware of the back door I left open (or the unread books I have stacking up on my bed stand).

This is why I haven’t bought a planner this year. Instead I bought a journal (to write down all my crazy dreams and random thoughts/feelings), and will only use my work Outlook calendar to plan my days. I’m also trying to say “NO” more. I don’t have enough time in the week to do all the things I want to do, plus accommodate everyone around me, plus have time to just sit around and read a book! SLOWING DOWN is my big initiative for 2009. By slowing down, I’m also going to NOT spend money. To not go places because I think I need to be doing something. I’m going to try my absolute hardest to NOT spend money, or buy things I don’t absolutely NEED. Like shoes or pedicures. I’m content and by slowing down, I can spend more time doing NOTHING, and saving for the future! Like Greece in 2 summers, or a trip to see Sarah in NY w/Rob in June. Save now, play later!

If you have any other tips on how I can SLOW DOWN, please share with a comment! I’ve done the research (even gave a speech at Toastmasters about prioritizing your time for the most important things), but would appreciate any other helpful insight!

New Job for Rob (hey, that rhymes!)

We’ve got some great news! Rob was offered a transporter position (not like the movie, but transporting patients within the hospital) at Banner Baywood in Mesa (by my parent’s house)! He started today with shadowing another transporter, and will officially start next Monday. We’re so excited! This “foot in the door” will be absolutely great for when he’s done with school and can apply for an RN position at Banner. We’re hoping with the wait, he’ll be an RN in a year and a half. In the meantime, he can float around and get to understand everything there is about hospital life.

Christmas, Washington Style

Now that we’re back and in the swing of things again, I thought to share a post on our time in Washington with the Deharts.

First of all, we had such an amazing time! I can’t even begin to tell you how great his family was to me, and to us. The food, laughs, conversation and company were so memorable. Although the daily dose of rain, fog and snow-packed roads caused us to be more strategic in our plans going from house to house to celebrate the holiday, we somehow got around and spent quality time catching up on everyone’s lives. Was great hearing about Boompa’s history through pictures and seeing so much of everyone. I think we got the most we could out of our days spent there. Grandma Dana, we had so much fun with you, and thanks for being so sweet! Christmas Washington style was a blast, and we’ll never forget it. Hope to have many more like it!

I especially enjoyed hanging with my new cousins and Aunts & Uncles, fish-tailing down the unplowed streets, and eating Bruno’s pizza with Rob. Was awesome seeing his Washington friends, and reuniting with hugs!

Other things I appreciated about my trip:

Hanging with our fun cousins. Sadly, it made me wish I was in high school or college again: to play harder in basketball, to have been nicer to my parents, to not of been friends with some people, and to have gotten more out of those experiences all together! It’s so depressing how fast time flies. Now I’m 25 and being pressured to have babies! AGH. How can I think about having a kid when I still want to be one!

I came home with a bit of a cold, which even to this day I’m still trying to fight off with a cough here and there. Guess that’s what a lay-over in LA gets you!

Fortunately next time we visit it will be in May for Troy and Kaylyn’s wedding. I can’t wait! The weather should be beautiful!

Now it’s back to work and Toastmasters, and work and school for Rob. I had leadership training in Phoenix this past weekend with a woman I really appreciate. Her name is Liz, our club VP of Education, and previously our President. She is so knowledgeable about Toastmasters, and motivated to make our club the best it can be. I came away from the training with a bundle of ideas to bring in new members, and retain. I’m so excited to be our VP of PR for the next 6 months. Season Greetings

This week we went to Zoo Lights with some other couples, and had a fun time!

We love Jack and Kristin!

Sorry for the lapse in time between my posts. This season has been very busy for me. With my new officer position in Toastmasters (VP of PR), my pressuring work load at my marketing agency, Christmas parties, Cookie Lee orders, my second job pet-sitting, and trying to juggle being a wife, friend, sister and daughter all while trying to eat healthy and stay fit is really overwhelming. I truly haven’t been able to enjoy any time to myself or the true reason of Christmas!

Fortunately, I’ve had time to decorate our tree (in pink and silver!), buy fun gifts for others, share holiday cheer with my friends and coworkers (my secret Santa from work got me the coolest ‘VAMPIRE’ chardonnay!), and veg on the couch when I can with Rob. We can’t stop watching Friends… we love watching it this time of year for some reason.

I love all the Christmas cards we’ve been getting, and am so happy everyone is keeping us in their thoughts this holiday season. Hope you know you’re all in ours, too!

Rob and I are going to Washington State Christmas day to visit with the Dehart family. We are both looking forward to seeing his family, and know it will be a special trip! I’m personally looking forward to relaxing and being silly with my new cousins. I just wish I had more time to prepare! My emotions have been so erratic lately and I’m trying hard to prioritize my time and thoughts better. My days are full of prayer for everyone, particularly my sister and my parents.

I can’t believe all the rain and chilly weather we’ve been having.

Lucy is enjoying the snuggly weather, as you can tell:

I will miss her when we’re gone… she is the sweetest.

My “Fan”-tastic review of Twilight

Friday came and went, and now I can provide my review, considering I’ve done enough obsessing to really evaluate the movie based off its imitation of the book I love.

Pros

-Robert Pattinson as Edward. The first classroom scene was beyond perfect. His repulsive manner towards Bella was head on. His look, teeth, skin, everything was totally convincing, except for his red lips?

-Scenic depiction of Forks, WA and Phoenix, AZ

-The Cullen Family – I wanted more of them! Alice was the best replication of the literary Alice. They should all be developed more in the next one.

-Bella’s dad – BEST actor in my opinion. Bella’s mom did pretty well, too!

-The baseball game, what fun!

-Bella and Edward’s bed snuggle ;) Too bad there wasn’t more kissing.

-The eyes of the vegetarian vampires.

-Alice's bloodthurst at the end.

-Forks’ prom, loved the slow dance of Bella and Edward at the end.

-The unexpected humor the movie brought out from the book. Guess things ARE funnier when you’re not READING it but SEEING it. HA!

-Bella’s clumsiness. Thank GOD they portrayed this! Loved the fall outside her house, too, ha!

-The apple catch, looks like the book cover! DUH Cheryl.

-THE CLIFFHANGER. Victoria was perfect. Cannot WAIT until the next one… in 2010 :(

Cons

-Kristen Stewart as Bella. Yes, she looked the part to a T in my mind, but when she opened her mouth, she didn’t ACT like the real Bella. She was too awkward and stutter-ful to play Bella. Kristen pulled off the unenthusiastic part about Bella, but not the crazed, love-struck Bella we read of in the book. She had SOME good scenes, but lacked in the most important ones. Please read all the books next time you agree to play a literary character, Kristen.

-Bella’s art of NOT cooking. Hello! Why wasn’t it written in the script for her to COOK?

-Bella’s narration. Her unsure voice didn’t sound good as a voice over.

-Not enough BLOOD. James and his clan didn’t look that scary at all. They should have showed more biting and blood when they were feeding throughout the movie.

-Edward sparkling. I needed some hard core RAYS coming out of him!

-Jacob: not sure how or if he’s going to get BIGGER for the New Moon sequel?? Because he’ll need to.

-Why didn’t Alice and Jasper stress about their sun exposure in Phoenix? Weird.

-Where was the bonding of Alice and Bella?

Overall, I was THRILLED they made a movie of Twilight! I really enjoyed it! Not as good as the book of course, but as good as they can get it with 2 hours to work with and a low budget. I hope for the next one they can spend a little bit more money. And please, Kristen, show some more emotion and don’t hesitate so much in your delivery. Bella was shrill at times, and so can you, but without the stuttering. I think they’ll definitely put together an even better movie for the second one, knowing they’ll take all the feedback they can to ensure another successful release!

I’m sure I’ll go see it again (and drag Tayler along with me). Have a great week, and go see Twilight! Robert is worth it!

Friday night we went and saw Carrie Underwood! It was the BEST concert I've ever been to! Her voice, stage presence, style and show was amazing!!!

We had SO much fun!I stole these from her fan site. We were really close, but not THAT close.

I’m Hungry for More!

The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, is by far the greatest book I’ve ever read. Yes, even better than my Twilight series. It’s painful to say, but true. I read it in less than a day. The Hunger Games pulls you in and refuses to let your heart and mind go astray!

As the novel starts, you meet the heroine, Katniss, and learn of her unending love and determination, particularly for her younger sister, Nim, whose place she takes when Prim’s name gets drawn as the chosen girl from their district for the Hunger Games. I’m not going to tell you anything else other than The Games begin and you can’t stop reading. Once you start this book, you won’t be able to put it down! You read on to see if Katniss lives or dies. The descriptive way Collins writes is brilliant, and makes you feel as though you’re in the Games yourself, right next to Katniss, using strategy and panic to survive.

And the BEST part of it being my FAVORITE book? It’s a trilogy! I highly recommend you read it. God knows I’ll be reading it over and over gain. Sadly, Catching Fire, the next book in the trilogy doesn’t come out until September 2009.

The Power of Words in a Brand

Saw an article the other day in Direct Marketing, and was amazed to see my all time favorite nail polish brand featured as a brand expert!

I, too, think OPI Nail Lacquer has created a customer experience unlike any other. Since my first days of organizing the OPI racks at Ulta during high school, I’ve had an obsession with OPI Nail Lacquer. Not with just the colors and high quality of the finish, but the NAMES of the polishes!! Oh, how the use of words draw you to a brand…

Some of my favorites are “Pompeii Purple”, “Bubble Bath”, “Lapazitively Hot”, and “I’m Fondue of You”. I’ve always wondered whose job it was to pick the colors and names of each and was thrilled to find out in the article. Her name is Suzi Weiss-Fischmann and she’s the Executive Vice President of OPI Nail Lacquer, a.k.a. “First Lady of Nails”. She single handedly selects every shade based on the season’s colors and works with others I’m sure to extend their brand ‘experience’ by picking the most catchy and outrageous names for them!

If you haven’t already seen their new Fall line, La Collection De France, you should make it to your nearest salon, Ulta or Beauty Supply and check out the amazing colors and above all, the NAMES! It’s habit if you know the OPI brand – you pick up the bottle and flip it around, almost simultaneously, hold your breath and read the name of the color. Ask any OPI fan!

This behavior proves, case and point, that words can alter the customer experience and take your brand where it’s never been before. OPI tells a story, lets you live the personality of the bottle. If you know OPI, you know that it even turns into a conversation, like “Oh, are you wearing Midnight in Lincoln Park?”, "You have Dutch Tulips on, right?", or “I’m wearing I’m Not Really a Waitress”. Ha-Ha! Other brands are using words to build their brand, like Vitamin Water, Philosophy and Dogeared Jewelry. It’s so brilliant considering most consumers, particularly women, pay attention to the little things that appeal to their creative and sensitive side.

I highly recommend you experience the brand of OPI. You soon will fall in love with the random names and silliness the brand brings to your nails… and to your life, he.he.

It’s about time I see OPI in some marketing publications! They deserve the recognition!

What happens in Vegas...

Sarah's bachelorette party in Las Vegas was AMAZING! Us girls had such a GREAT time!

Our trip started off great as soon as we walked into our luxury suite at The Flamingo. Who would have thought to put TVs in the bathroom mirrors? Ha-Ha! It was the biggest hotel suite I've ever been in! More to come...

We were then off to dinner at Cafe Ba Ba Reeba for some Spanish style food and peach Sangria.

Tao at The Venetian after was interesting...loved the girls floating in the bath tubs of rose petals, but not the creepy guys.

Saturday was our day on the strip shopping, drinking Sarah's favorite (Starbucks), riding the roller coaster at New York, New York, and discovering the convenient bus line! The European style pool at The Flamingo later was a little shocking, but SO much fun once we found some chairs to lounge on and avoided the topless older women. Pool volleyball rocked, accept Kate wasn't on my team :(

Night came and it was time to get dressed up. We grabbed the buffet at the Excalibur (so not worth over-eating at) and got in our seats for Thunder from Down Under. Sorry, ladies - no cameras were allowed. I highly recommend the show though, especially for a ladies trip to Vegas. If you feel like being sexually harassed and put on the spot, make it to the Thunder from Down Under show!

After our cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling at the oiled down Australians (sorry Robby...), we headed to The Palms for the rest of the night for the star treatment we somehow received for being a 'bachelorette party' group. We got into all of the clubs, fast and free-of-charge. My favorite was Ghost Bar and Rain. Ghost Bar had a stunning view of the strip, and Rain played TECHNO! What more could you ask for? We saw Michael Phelps at Rain, but he wouldn't take a picture with any of us ladies. Kind of gay, right?

It was definitely one of the best trips to Vegas I've ever had. It was great celebrating this exciting time with Sarah and I hope she had fun with all the games I planned for her, including a sexy panty game which she did extremely well at! I was so proud!

I love you, Sarah! Only 1 more week and you'll be hitched!

I'll post more pictures once I do some swapping with my friends! I'm definitely playing catch-up! And p.s., red bull is dangerous to phones!

Beyond Words

I had to step away from laundry for a second to post this. The way I'm feeling right now is beyond me. I can't breathe.

I'm so happy right now I feel like my heart is going to burst through my chest. My heart is so overwhelmed with love. Every day with Rob is amazing. I thank God every day for bringing him to me, for letting our love withstand anything. For teaching me to love unconditionally. Thank you, God, for giving me my own piece of heaven to have until I'm with you eternally. Until we're both with you. Not only am I happily married, but I'm so in love with the people in my life. My parents, my sister, my fabulous friends, my in-laws, my sister/brother-in-law, my extended family, the people I work with... everyone. God has placed so many great people in my life, I don't know what I'd do without them. I wish I could freeze this day in time. My mom told the story of how her and my dad met last night to us and it just shows me that when you love someone, really love someone, even at first sight, you're going to love them forever, and spend the rest of your life with them. And Robby, so you know, our love is forever. I pray that God pours even more of his grace onto us in the years to come.

I'm going to get back to cleaning.

Planting Herbs

Thanks to my wonderful mom, I had a fun new pot from Pier 1 to play with. I decided to plant herbs! (Yes, I copied you, Mom)

My mini-garden consists of:

-Basil
-Greek Oregano
-Chocolate Mint
-Rosemary &
-Lavender

As of right now this cute little fishy is decoration, but one day when I decide to cook and need fresh herbs, I'll have some!!!

Although this wasn't patriotic in the least way... I do admire those who are fighting for our country and my heart goes out to them. I pray that God watches over them and keeps them safe.

I just finished the most adorable book!!!

Not only did it bring tears to my eyes, but it delivers a powerful message - to live with no regrets, be adventurous, be silly, love everyone, live every minute to its fullest, forgive, show true loyalty 'til the very end (tear...), be content with the little things in life. The story of this couple, blossoming into a family, really touches the heart and the relationship they all had with Marley, their obnoxious, crazed and lovable lab, is so sweet! The author did an incredible job on describing the impact this dog had on his life and I admire his sincerity.

Lucy is my Marley. She has the bad 'Marley' tendencies, like when she chewed up my ipod headphones last week, but also the good tendencies: she follows me everywhere when I'm home, lies by my feet when I'm getting ready in the morning and waits patiently for us to get home from work... I don't want to think of the day when I'll lose my Lucy to doggy heaven. She is a companion I know will accompany Robby and I for many years to come. As my friend Sarah would say, I LUH her sooo much♥

This novel makes you appreciate the simplicity pets offer. The love they give, unconditionally. Even the worst dogs, have the best intentions at heart. Why not carry these over into our every day lives? Love unconditionally, take life for all its worth, be loyal in your relationships and see good in others even if it's hard... find happiness in the simple things in life, like a morning waking up to the sound of palm trees and chimes blowing in the wind, in bed next to your husband♥

Here's more about this book. And I think they're making a movie about it, too! A must read, especially if you're a dog lover!

A 'Mini-Moon' to Remember

San Francisco was marvelous!

10 things I loved about San Fran:

1. H&M! (Was in there every day...)
2. The endless seafood at Fisherman's Warf

3. Ghirardelli Square- the hot fudge chocolate sundae was to die for (I wanted one every day...)

4. The large supply of Salt Water Taffy. Which didn't go over so well with our stomachs after eating it non-stop.
5. Lombard Street, very strange...

6. Riding Bikes over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. The most romantic part of the trip. The scenery was breathtaking and it was so nice to get out of the city. Except for the bum who had a dog that looked dead. (homeless people should not be allowed to have pets. It's animal cruelty!)

7. Alcatraz - Rob was very intrigued...

8. The Handlery Hotel, what a darling, historic "feel"!

9. Dinner at Fino's in downtown San Fran - the italian food, cheesecake and wine was SOOO good.

10. Holding hands everywhere, especially on the trolley and F train. We were such tourists.

But most of all, I had fun being with my husband. The man I love. The man I would do anything for. He is so fun to travel with and although he didn't have enough energy to grab drinks at The Mark our last night, I still love him and valued our time together and late-night pizza cravings.

Easter Sweets

I thought to share a recipe with you that I made for Easter. It was delicious and very light.

Fruit Pizza

1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury® Create 'n Bake® refrigerated sugar cookies
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup fresh or canned peach slices, drained, cut into thinner slices
1 cup halved or quartered fresh strawberries
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1/2 cup apple jelly

DIRECTIONS
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 12-inch pizza pan or spray with cooking spray. In pan, break up cookie dough; press dough evenly in bottom of pan to form crust.
2. Bake 16 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
3. In small bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy. Spread mixture over cooled crust. Arrange fruit over cream cheese.
4. Stir jelly until smooth; spoon or brush over fruit. Refrigerate until chilled, at least 1 hour. Cut into wedges or squares. Store in refrigerator.

It was definitely a popular dish with our families. YUMMY!

First, I would like to say that our wedding was SO AMAZING! Everything was perfect! The weather was gorgeous, the place was perfect, the food & cake was delicious, the music & dancing was non-stop, the friends and family who came made it extremely memorable and more than anything, it marked the beginning of our life together! This was the most monumental day for Rob and I. His face when I came down the aisle was unforgettable. Our love for each other really shined that day and I think everyone around us could see it in our faces, in our eyes, in our smiles and in our touch. It was BY FAR, the best wedding we’ve ever been too! I will be posting some pictures VERY soon!

We would like to say THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts, to our parents. Who through it all made this special day happen.

Teri and Paul – we couldn’t have asked for a better rehearsal dinner. It was more than I ever imagined. It was perfect. The tulips, the food, the cake, the décor, the atmosphere...all of it! Thank you for putting together such a wonderful night. Having our families together meant so much to us. It is a night we’ll never forget. It was great catching up with our families and relaxing before our big day. And thank you, Teri, for being our photographer. I can’t wait to see the final images! Your wedding gift was very much appreciated, too. Thank you both for being so giving, loving and compassionate. We love you.

Randy – without your help, this wedding couldn’t have taken place. Thank you for making our day happen and for being there for us always. You’re such a great man. I’m honored that you call me your daughter. We are both so happy to have you in our lives and thank you for supporting our love. And thank you for all the kind words you shared. We love you Randy. Thanks, too for helping with the rehearsal dinner.

Tina and Pat – thank you for your loving support and for making our day happen. We appreciate all that you’ve done for us and for always wanting to be a part of our daily lives. We know you are always there for us, so thank you for lending ‘helping’ hands, even if we don't ask. We hope to make many more memories with you - camping, going to Cali, sitting by the fire, watching movies, hanging by the pool... I love you mom & dad and cherish every minute I spend with you. ♥ Cheryl

To all our friends and family, we are so thankful to be connected to you! You have filled our lives with so much JOY! We are so lucky to have such awesome friends and family who have been there for us all through the years. We look forward to making more memories with you!

We trust that you will lead our marriage, be at the center of it and bring even more happiness to our lives in the years to come. Last Night Out as a Single Lady!

We started the night out at Bada Boom Pasta Room in old town Scottsdale, then it was off to Dos Gringos and Devil's Martini. We had so much fun! There was lots of pasta, body shots (off my bridesmaids, he.he.), dancing, sexy gifts and a delicious penis cake to end the night at Hotel Indigo...

We're Finally Registered!

This past weekend we finally finished registering. We found some great stuff! Rob really enjoyed using the gun, LOL! Which is typical I guess of guys... Even though Rob kept trying to scan me as a gift, we did get a lot of necessities in the registry. I was in love with a Duvet comforter I found:

And yes, I spent some time in the housekeeping aisles...ha! (I'm a clean freak)

Target gives you this whole 'Club Wedd' packet, too. Very cool...

We're also registered at Williams-Sonoma.

Less than 2 months now, WOW! We're getting so excited!
